Below are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Ashen Empires.
What is Ashen Empires?
Ashen Empires is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). It’s a free-form game – there are no limits to what you can do or learn with your character. It is similar to classic pen and paper games where your attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Constitution) determine how good you are at certain activities – there are no classes or restrictions. You can spend time hunting with friends, exploring the world, honing a skill or craft, or completing quests.
What is an MMORPG?
“MMORPG” is a term describing a genre of games in which you can simultaneously play alongside many other players. An MMORPG is set in a persistent world; this means that a game will continue to evolve, regardless of whether a player is logged into it or not. MMORPGs are meant to be played (and shared) with others, although you are welcome to go solo. If you’re enjoying the game, invite some friends along, that always makes the experience more enjoyable!
What is Dransik?
Dransik is the name of the lands in Ashen Empires. It is also the name of the game Dransik that was the predecessor to Ashen Empires. Dransik is available to play on Steam for FREE!
Who runs Ashen Empires?
Ashen Empires is owned and operated by Iron Will Games.
Is there a difference between the servers?
Ashen Empires has two types of servers (PVP – Player vs Player and PVE – Player vs Environment). The main difference is whether or not you can attack other players outside of an Arena.
Read more about the two server types.
How do I chat with others?
Press ENTER, type, then press ENTER again. To switch channels, press TAB at any time while typing. The channel name will be to the left of the text (the image below shows someone about to speak in the “say” local channel)
What is Target Protection?
Target Protection is a safety measure that prevents a player from harming game NPCs or other players by accident. You can toggle Target Protection on and off by pressing the “T” key. If you are a mage, make sure the box on the top left corner of your Rune Case is checked (Press C to bring up the Rune Case). Keep in mind that harming other players or NPC townsfolk in the presence of guards will make you a wanted criminal. Even if guards are not around, peaceful NPCs such as townspeople, or deer, will erode your reputation.

What is Reputation, and why is it important?
Reputation reflects how “good” or “evil” your character is at the time. Your Reputation affects how guards treat you and prices in NPC shops.

What is a guild, and how do I join one?
A guild is a voluntarily formed group of players that share similar interests and/or pursuits. You can either start your own guild or be invited to join an existing Guild.

Do I need to buy a subscription to play?
Not at all. Ashen Empires is 100% free to play. If you’re looking for some great in-game perks and other special offers, read about our VIP program.
What expansion is good for new players?
You can play for quite some time before you might want to consider purchasing an expansion – but if you are thinking about buying an expansion, Talazar’s Revenge is an excellent first choice! Tides of Fate has plenty of low-level content, as well.
How do you take screenshots?
You can take in-game screenshots by pressing the “Print Screen” key, which is usually located on the top right side of your keyboard. Screenshots are saved to the “Shots” folder in your Ashen Empires directory (C:\Program Files\Pixel Mine\Ashen Empires\Shots).
What is a “GM”?
GM stands for Game Moderator. It is the GMs’ responsibility to monitor player activity in Ashen Empires. You may page a GM in-game if there is an emergency, such as a game-blocking bug, or if a player conflict needs to be immediately resolved. To page a GM, press ESC to open the game’s Option menu then press the Summon GM button. You may only page a GM once within a 24 hour period. GMs are unpaid volunteers, they are not responsible for fixing bugs or developing the game.
They can’t help you with billing/payment problems.
How can I protect my account?
Iron Will Games customer service or the Steam Support representatives will never ask you for your account info or password. It is YOUR responsibility to safeguard YOUR account. DO NOT give out your account name and/or password to other people (not even spouses, children, parents, “best friends”, siblings; we have seen it all).
If you do so, your account, your characters, and all the time you spent building up your characters will be put at risk. Ashen Empires also does not condone account trading/sharing and will not be held responsible for accounts, items, or characters lost as a result. Also, do not click on links or download files from someone you do not know or is not a trusted source – keyloggers, viruses, and other harmful programs may compromise your account information.
