Attributes (Orbs)

Ashen Empires is one of the few role-playing games to give players complete control over their character. You are able to learn any skill or feat that you want. Your proficiency with them only depends on your attributes.

Attributes
There are four Attributes in Ashen Empires:

  1. Strength (STR)
  2. Dexterity (DEX)
  3. Intelligence (INT)
  4. Constitution (CON)

Orbs
When you create your character and each time you gain a level, you will gain orbs which you can then place in one of the four Attributes. Check the Skill Guide for more detailed info on how many orbs you get at each level and overall.

Alliance Towns
Town alliances can have a massive impact on your options as a player. There are no clear-cut forced routes in Ashen Empires, there is no specific class selection, but your class is derived entirely through your choice of orb distribution.

SilvestIntelligence

The town that you decide to ally with will allow that specific stat to raise to a maximum of 101, unlocking specialized options for each build. You may only equip items by way of base orbs, your buffed stats do not allow you to equip anything additionally that you do not have the required base orbs.

Bonus Orbs
Bonus orbs are extra orbs that can be a permanent or temporary enhancement to your attributes. You can get bonus orbs from your race, food and drink, totems, spells, and some weapons and armor.

Skills
These attributes also impact your ability to perform both combat and crafting Skills. For instance, strong players will be more apt to fight with melee weapons and find blacksmithing to be easier, dexterous players will excel at fly casting and skinning and ranged weapons, while more intelligent players are better at spell-casting, leadership, and baking.

Resistances
Your armor and jewelry is the primary source of resistances vs damage types. Resistances obtained from your gear in PvE scale 1:1 up to 50%, after which a soft cap is applied requiring a total of 85% resistances in order to reach the hard cap of 65%.

This value when above 50% will display as 90% (65%) indicating that you are over the hard cap on that resistance type, and the value in parenthesis is the currently mitigated damage value.

At lower levels you often do not have a lot of choice in the matter, and will choose whichever armor has higher protection and stats while attempting to even out your resistances. At higher levels it becomes a lot more important to gear for the occasion, as you will take substantially more damage with low or no resistance to the damage type of your target.

Armor Class
This directly influences your chance to avoid an attack based on the attack rating of your opponent.
